BRAZIL NUTS

by admin - June 1, 2009

Brazil nuts are particularly healthy due to their high selenium content, which makes their protein content “complete”.

Selenium is also a powerful antioxidant linked to lower rates of cancer and heart disease.

These nuts contain high amounts of fat. These fats are unsaturated and, therefore, “healthy” when ingested in moderate amounts.

Magnesium, also found in brazil nuts, aids the release of energy from foods to assist nerve and muscle function and keep bones healthy.

Brazil nuts grow in tropical South America inside hard, woody coconut-sized shells that weigh about 5 pounds each and contain 15 to 25 nuts.

Wonderful WALNUTS

by admin -

Walnuts, in particular, have significantly higher amounts of omega 3 fatty acids as compared to other nuts.

More than a decade of scientific evidence shows that incorporating Walnuts in a healthy diet reduces the risk of heart disease by improving blood vessel elasticity and plaque accumulation.

Eating Walnuts is like wearing a seatbelt for your heart.

Walnuts contain an antioxidant compound called ellagic acid that supports the immune system and appears to have several anticancer properties.

A host of studies have shown that increasing the dietary intake of monounsaturated-dense walnuts has favorable effects on high cholesterol levels and other cardiovascular risk factors.

PECAN Facts

by admin -

“Pecan” is apparently from the native North American Algonquin word meaning “a tough nut to crack”.

With a number of essential nutrients pecans are a great all round snack for the health conscious. They have also been shown to reduce blood cholesterol.

Texas adopted the pecan tree as its state tree in 1919.

Pecans are loaded with natural antioxidants.

A 2001 study out of Loma Linda University found that adding just a handful of pecans to a traditional low-fat, cholesterol-lowering diet can have a dramatic impact on the diet’s effectiveness.

Pecans are an excellent source of protein and can be substituted for  meat,  poultry or fish in a healthy diet.

Scientific evidence suggests, but does not prove, that eating 1.5 ounces per day of most nuts, such as pecans, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease.

Welcome to Argires Nuts

by george - October 5, 2007

What an exciting time to be “born”. Our website took life on October 4, 2007. We aren’t a new company though as we have been in business since 1949. Someday when we have some time we will share with you our company history.

We simply love nuts and popcorn. Processing them, packaging them and sharing them with you is fun for us. Nuts are truly one of nature’s most fortified foods. Eating a few every day has been proven to have significant health benefits.

Instead of setting up our website simply for gifts, we have set it up to give our nut lover’s a place where they can buy nuts in quantity that have been processed upon getting your order so that they are fresh and great tasting.

Share your recipes, your stories, and your ideas with us. We enjoy learning new things and making new friends.

Have a great day!
